Mobile Methods for Air Pollution Measurement

The research project involving a mobile measurement device designed by Professor Kadıoğlu and his team aims to assess quality of air as a growing concern in the modern world, and contribute to the socioeconomic development and quality of life for people living in the affected area.

We met Professor Mikdat Kadıoğlu of the Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Aerospace Sciences Meteorological Engineering Department and talked about the air quality monitoring and modeling project that they are implementing in partnership with ITUNOVA in the Ataşehir district of Istanbul.

The research project involving a mobile measurement device designed by Professor Kadıoğlu and his team aims to assess quality of air as a growing concern in the modern world, and contribute to the socioeconomic development and quality of life for people living in the affected area.

The mobile air pollution measurement cabinet placed in the area can be moved to neighborhoods where air pollution complaints are high to take measurements over a period of time, and to determine the level of pollution due to transportation, heating and industry.

The project creates a social effect as well by informing the residents of Ataşehir of their air quality levels and sharing precautions that need to be taken.
